Carglass® Belgium is renowned for its swift car glass repair services. Following repairs, it is imperative to determine the appropriate cost for the service accurately, a task that has grown increasingly complex due to the expanding role of technology in modern vehicles. To address this challenge, Carglass® Belgium requested the expertise of Bizzomate and their Avola Rule Engine, aiming to swiftly and efficiently determine the correct invoice amount.
Post-car window repair, the recalibration of a vehicle’s sensors, cameras, and other components is essential to restore functionalities like lane assist and speed sign recognition to their optimal state, prioritizing driver safety. With the continual evolution of automotive technology, this recalibration process has however become progressively complex, posing operational challenges and complicating price calculations.
Roland Henrard, Solution Architect at Carglass® Belgium: “Ensuring accurate recalibration pricing is quite a complex process. The cost depends on numerous variables, ranging from using road plates for recalibration to actual road testing. The varying number of cameras in each vehicle further complicates the pricing structure.”
In response, Carglass® Belgium initiated a project to streamline recalibration processes, with pricing optimization being a core objective. The solution sought to separate pricing from the core software system (ERP) to minimize the need for extensive software development and enable swift adaptation to pricing fluctuations by non-IT personnel as well.
Recognizing the potential of rule engines to solve this challenge, Carglass® Belgium reached out to Bizzomate, the developer of the Avola Rule Engine. The Avola Rule Engine has been operational at Carglass® Belgium for several months now. Barbara: “The implementation of the Avola Rule Engine represented the least complex approach to enhancing our recalibration pricing. Custom software for our back-office system became unnecessary, granting us complete flexibility, should a transition to another system ever be needed.”
The foremost achievement, however, is the Avola Rule Engine’s unwavering reliability in price calculation, remaining consistently accurate and operational since the start. Furthermore, Bizzomate provided comprehensive training to Carglass® Belgium’s pricing specialists, enabling them to independently make adjustments or modify components within the Avola Rule Engine.
An additional benefit is Carglass® Belgium’s newfound ability to conduct simulations. This efficiency is particularly advantageous when dealing with complex pricing algorithms, as it allows the testing of numerous scenarios prior to going live, ensuring a smooth transition, which has proven to be successful so far.
The Avola Rule Engine has now become a fundamental element of Carglass® Belgium’s software architecture. Roland: “I anticipate various further projects in the near future that will leverage the Avola Rule Engine, solidifying its role as an integral part of our software framework. The engine’s performance has validated its value for us, making it a key asset for upcoming initiatives at Carglass® Belgium.”
